Whether running a small affiliate website or a large enterprise, content is one of the most critical aspects of your online presence. With the widespread emergence of AI-writing tools and automated content generation, ensuring your website contains only the highest quality original content is becoming increasingly challenging.
You typically spend a lot to source high-quality content, but did you know that Google penalizes websites that contain unnatural or AI-generated texts? Google’s August 2022 helpful content update tells that the search engine giant is increasingly becoming skeptical about AI-generated content that is less likely to add any genuine value to the readers.
That’s where handy tools like Writer.com come into play. Writer.com offers a full range of writing solutions, including AI detection, assisted writing, plagiarism detection, quality monitoring, backlink checking, and more!
Today, we will be taking a closer look at Writer.com’s AI content detection capabilities and how it compares to other platforms. We will also run some real-world test scenarios to understand better how effectively the platform detects AI-generated content.
Let’s run through some of Writer.com’s top features:
Now that we have a brief understanding of the platform’s features, let’s dive into some real-world tests. To do this, we will be using several AI-generated texts from GPT-3 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) models to see how accurately Writer.com can detect it as such.
Here are the sample texts we have used in our test. Seven short-form sample articles were generated entirely using Jasper, an industry-leading GPT-3-based AI content writing platform. So we already know that our sample contents are 100% AI-generated, and that’s what the optimal result should tell us.
Let’s now examine how Writer.com performs to detect the AI percentage of the sample texts. We will then compare the result with Originality.ai, another reputed AI-detection tool.
The above screenshot shows that Originality.ai marks sample article # 1 as 100% AI-generated or 0% original human work. Writer.com detects 83.5% human-generated content for our first sample article. For our comparison, we have subtracted the outcome from 100% to figure out the AI percentage, which is 16.50%.
We’ve followed the same process for all of our tests and compiled the results side-by-side in the following comparison table.
Let’s now interpret the scoring table and evaluate how both tools performed. You can see that Originality.ai has detected five out of seven samples as almost fully AI-generated by assigning them an AI score of above 90%.
Note that Originality.ai’s scoring not only indicates the AI percentage, rather it also tells you the confidence of the tool about the score it has produced. For instance, if you consider sample # 3, the 99% AI score implies that Originality.ai is 99% confident that the sample is 99% AI-generated.
Now let’s turn to Writer.com’s results. The free-to-use tool detected only one article (sample #2) as substantially AI-generated producing with an AI percentage of 86.50%. For two of the articles, it even failed to detect any AI content at all.
Finally, we will also get a similar result by comparing the average scores. Originality.ai’s 79.14% score indicates that most of our test samples are AI-generated. Writer.com’s average score is only 26.71% which means that the tool marked most of the test samples as human-generated ones.
Considering our standard results, you can easily see that Originality.ai is certainly more dependable and accurate than Writer.com.
We have noticed the following when comparing Writer.com with other AI-detection tools, including Orginality.ai:
While Writer.com falls behind in terms of accuracy and dependability compared to some other platforms, the tool is one of the easiest and most convenient to use for quick scanning. You can simply head to their website and paste your text for analysis. There’s no need to sign up and open an account.
Another advantage of using Writer.com is its fast analysis. We have seen during our test that it usually takes Writer.com around two seconds to scan an article, whereas Originality.ai takes almost ten seconds. So, Writer.com is a good choice when you are in a hurry.
Writer.com offers a few advanced writing and editing tools when you subscribe to the free package. However, if you narrow the focus exclusively on AI-detection capabilities, you may need something more dependable, like Originality.ai.
On the other hand, casual users who want to check out a small amount of text or a short article quickly may benefit from the free scanning of Writer.com. The suitability depends on the users’ needs and usage patterns.
